DCT Gdańsk – a member of the PSA Group – has rebranded with a new name that reflects its ambition to be the Baltic Hub for the region, both by land and by sea. The terminal’s new name was announced two weeks after the terminal celebrated its 15th anniversary in October.

Since its inception in 2007, the terminal has accomplished impressive achievements – from having just one deep-water quay and a capacity of 500,000 TEUs, to becoming a true Baltic Hub with two deepsea quays that handled more than 2 million TEUs in 2021. Currently, Baltic Hub has 1,300 meters of quay, 14 Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and an annual capacity of 2.7 million TEUs.

Baltic Hub has also become a transport gateway to Central and Eastern Europe, with inland destinations such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. This is a result of continuous investments over the years which elevated its rail capacity to 750,000 TEUs in 2020.

Its upcoming T3 expansion – set to be completed in 2025 – will also make Baltic Hub one of the largest container hubs in Europe, with the ability to handle the next generation of containerships arriving in the Baltic Sea.

Baltic Hub CEO Charles Baker said: “We are extremely proud of the terminal today, but we readily acknowledge that today’s Baltic Hub would not exist without the hard work and commitment of all our staff as well as the faith and loyalty of our stakeholders, customers, lenders, suppliers and local communities over these 15 years.”

He highlighted a number of factors that have led to the organisation’s success over the years: “Excellent location, with good sea access and no tidal restrictions, but also our excellent operational capabilities and the support and investments in infrastructure by the Polish government”.
