DCT Gdańsk Wins Prestigious TSL Logistics Award

DCT Gdańsk (DCT) bagged the prestigious Transport, Spedition and Logistics (TSL) Award in the category ‘Logistics Infrastructure Development’ in August 2022, in recognition of the large-scale expansion of its railway terminal. This marks the second consecutive year that DCT has won a TSL Award.
The expansion of DCT’s rail terminal has been an intense three-year project, spanning 2018 to 2021. In that period, DCT has increased the length of its rail tracks from 618 meters to 750 meters and expanded the number of railway sidings from 4 to 7 tracks. With this significant expansion, DCT has become the largest intermodal terminal in Poland and one of the ten largest rail terminals in Europe. It is now able to handle more than 5,500 trains per year and has almost doubled its rail handling capacity to 750,000 TEUs.
DCT Gdańsk CEO Charles Baker said, “We are very pleased that the jury recognised the importance of this expansion project as it will allow our customers to access even more efficient rail services. In addition, customers will be able to generate significant cost savings compared to other ports in Southern or Western Europe by using the shorter rail route between DCT Gdańsk and Central European countries.”

Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita confers the TSL Awards to companies and organisations annually across four logistic categories, namely: ‘Innovation in Logistics’, ‘Man of the Year’, ‘Environmental Solutions’ and ‘Logistics Infrastructure Development’.
Last year, DCT came in top in the ‘Innovation in Logistics’ award category for the above-mentioned innovative OCR project, which both improved the safety of drivers and DCT employees, while increasing the efficiency of DCT’s gate complex service.
