PPIT was graced with a visit by Panama’s president, H.E. Juan Carlos Varela on 4 April 2017. During the highly anticipated visit, the President engaged with management and staff of PPIT, received a tour of the office building and even enjoyed a hands-on experience with some of the equipment. The visit also featured a lunch with about 600 workers and contractors, who were greeted by the president himself as he went from table to table.

PPIT is currently undergoing expansion works which will quadruple its annual container handling capacity to 2 million TEUs by the second half of this year. President Varela commended PPIT on their strong team and was impressed with the progress made since he last visited the terminal.
