Building Future-Ready Capabilities in Port Automation Technology

PSA is collaborating with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to offer a new Work-Learn Technical Diploma in Port Automation Technology (WLTD-PAT) for PSA Singapore’s engineering staff.
Officially launched on 1 April 2019, the program will see its first batch of 15 trainees graduating two-and-a-half-years later, with fundamental skills and knowledge in automation and smart technology. This is in readiness for workforce needs in the future Tuas Mega Port, to handle the new automated equipment and systems there.
Mainly skills-based with hands-on learning at the workplace, the curriculum – which is jointly developed and delivered by ITE and PSA – comprises of both classroom and on-the-job components to meet real workplace needs. In the final year, trainees will get the opportunity to apply their learning, by taking on a capstone project that requires them to come up with innovative solutions that solve real-life work problems. The successful completion of the program culminates in a nationally-recognised diploma qualification conferred by ITE.
The WLTD-PAT program is just one of the many initiatives that PSA is undertaking to build future-ready capabilities and provide professional upgrading opportunities for all its employees.
