Container Handling Record in The Port of Antwerp

MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) set a new record on 19 August 2019 during the handling of the Maersk Evora. A total of 8,428 containers, or 13,405 TEU, were loaded and unloaded from the vessel alone – a record for both MPET and the Port of Antwerp.
At a length of 366 metres and width of 48 metres, the vessel is one of the largest ships to ply the seas today. With containers stacked 10-high on deck, MPET deployed up to seven of the biggest cranes in the world, with heights of 50 metres and outreach of 25 containers, together with highly motivated dockers working with great dedication to get the job done in record time. The total amount of containers handled on this one vessel alone represents the largest ever call size carried out by MPET to date.
