#Innovators of PSA – Oktorenza

Oktorenza – people usually call him Okky – is currently IT manager at PSA’s New Priok Container Terminal (NPCT1). He manages both System Applications and the Infrastructure team to support our terminal operations in Jakarta. Concurrently he is involved in process improvement projects and strengthening NPCT1’s servers, network and cybersecurity.
Okky is excited about the future, observing how fast technology is growing. According to him, innovations and inventions would make all of our live easier, both at work and privately. He mentions AI and machine learning as examples of how technology will help make our lives more efficient and smoother.
In the spirit of improvement, Okky recalls facing an invoicing problem at NPCT1 resulting in a 30-minute wait for customers. By reviewing the process flow and creating innovative solutions, that waiting time has since been reduced to 5 minutes.
Ultimately there are two factors that contribute to good innovation according to him. Firstly having the courage to do things differently or go into uncharted territory. Secondly creating dynamic organisations that are not only highly productive but also value-based. In a single line he summarised his innovation beliefs as “Never giving up in doing things right and productive”.
Just for fun we asked him what he would invent with 1 billion US dollars. He shared how he would create a logistic platform connecting all port stakeholders. This community collaboration would lower costs and create a win win for everyone involved.
