IntelliTug Project Bags Award at SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2020

In a video conference held in June, the IntelliTug project secured an award in the ‘Digital – Marine and Offshore Engineering’ category at the Singapore Business Review (SBR) Technology Excellence Awards 2020.
The project is a collaboration between PSA Marine, technology provider Wärtsilä and supported by Lloyd’s Register, Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine Singapore (TCOMS), as well as the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The endeavour aims to develop intelligent vessel capabilities with the goal of pioneering smarter, safer, and more efficient ways of operating a harbour tug. A suite of Wärtsilä sensors was retrofitted on PSA Polaris, a PSA Marine harbour tug, to enable autonomous navigation, enhanced situational awareness and safe passage planning.
PSA Marine Managing Director Peter Chew said, “The IntelliTug project sets out to discover smarter, safer and more efficient ways of operating a harbour tug. With a sense of purposeful inquisitiveness and a “can-do” attitude, we are able to challenge the conventions of what a tug master and a harbour tug can be capable of. We thank our partners for being alongside us on this journey as we continue this work in redefining the tug of the future.”
