Collaborating for Change with Singapore’s Youths

As a part of its green efforts, PSA Singapore has been actively engaging youths at various events to share about its sustainability efforts and to mobilise them in creating solutions for a sustainable future.

Earlier in May 2022, PSA Singapore hosted the inaugural activity for the “SG75: Singapore Our Home Competition”, a hybrid seminar. This annual competition encourages each generation to plan for the future of Singapore. With this year’s theme being “Inclusive Singapore”, over 360 youths from local secondary and tertiary institutions attended the seminar to learn more about sustainability.

To kickstart the event, Singapore’s then-Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Desmond Tan spoke about Singapore’s plans in tackling climate change. PSA Singapore’s Assistant Vice President for Sustainability Planning & Development Goh Hock Nguan then shared on PSA’s sustainability efforts, such as the port’s energy transition towards electrification, and the company-wide efforts to impart a green mindset to its people.

This was followed by a robust panel discussion between the two speakers, the students, and Singapore’s Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Thurai Rajah, who also plays a role as an advisor to the SG75 team. The students then submitted their innovative plans for the country’s future through essays, pictures, and motion media for the competition.

Subsequently, PSA Singapore held another panel discussion for 80 tertiary and postgraduate students from Singapore and Asia as part of the Youth Ecosperity Dialogue (YED) 2022 on 8 June 2022. Organised by Singapore Management University College of Integrative Studies and supported by Temasek Foundation, YED 2022 gathered student leaders across the region to discuss pressing issues in sustainability through conversations, industry engagements and workshops. It aimed to prepare them for formulating solutions for a better tomorrow and accelerate change for sustainable practices in industries and businesses.

Working alongside the youths of today can make a difference for a greener tomorrow!
