At PSA, we recognise that our role as a leading port operator goes beyond facilitating global trade flows. It comes with a deep responsibility to the communities where we operate.
Across continents and cultures, our approach to community engagement is built on long-term partnerships and a keen understanding of local needs. From empowering youth through education and supporting the well-being of seniors, to improving access to essential services and advancing environmental awareness, PSA’s business units work closely with community partners to co-create initiatives that truly matter.
To guide these efforts, PSA’s Group-level policies are anchored in three key pillars: Community Development; Arts, Education, Sports and Culture; and Industry Outreach and Development. These pillars reflect our commitment to nurturing inclusive, vibrant, and forward-looking communities.
As we grow our global footprint, we stay grounded in the belief that strong communities build a better future. By aligning our efforts with local priorities, acting in partnership with our stakeholders, and striving to achieve lasting, positive outcomes, PSA is proud to play a part in nurturing a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable world.

Singapore: Howe Yoon Chong PSA Scholarships
The Howe Yoon Chong PSA Endowment Fund was launched in 2008 to honour the late Mr Howe Yoon Chong, former Chairman of the Port of Singapore Authority from which the current PSA International traces its roots. A visionary Singaporean with significant contributions to Singapore, he championed the building of Singapore’s first container terminal, Tanjong Pagar Container Terminal, which opened in 1972. The fund was set up with contributions from PSA, Temasek Holdings and NSL Ltd to provide bond-free scholarships for Singaporean students from low-income families who have triumphed over trying and difficult circumstances and who have also contributed actively to the community. The scholarships will pay for tuition and other compulsory fees and provide book and living allowances. The Fund has awarded over 450 scholarships and five book prizes to date.

Health, Safety, Security
At PSA, the well-being of our people is at the heart of everything we do. We have implemented a robust Health, Safety and Security (HSS) management system on an on-going basis across PSA terminals to ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff and contractors. This system is continuously strengthened through rigorous standards, regular reviews, and a strong safety culture on the ground, reflecting our unwavering commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.

Sustainability in Action
In parallel with our safety efforts, PSA is actively contributing to global sustainability goals. Our business units have adopted a range of green initiatives, ranging from energy-efficient lighting and green building features to the latest fuel-saving technologies in port equipment and infrastructure. We also promote environmental awareness through staff engagement programmes and terminal greening efforts such as planting foliage on-site. Together, these actions reflect our holistic approach to building safe, secure, and sustainable port operations. Read more about how PSA is taking climate action by driving sustainable growth here.
