PSA’s subsidiaries in Belgium continued their collective commitment towards the welfare of staff and families with two fun-filled occasions this year.

AG Antwerp 10 Miles and Marathon
Despite cold and rainy conditions on 28 April 2019, 38,000 participants and 70,000 supporters showed up at the 34th edition of the AG Antwerp 10 Miles and Marathon, the largest running event in the country.

From PSA Antwerp (PSAA), MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) and Antwerp Terminal Services (ATS), 66 employees and their family members took part in the run. Nine of them competed in the 42-km marathon, 53 in the 10-mile (16 km) race and a final four in a special short race.

Antwerp Mayor Bart De Wever and Antwerp Alderman for Ports Annick De Ridder also showed their support by participating in the marathon and the 10-mile race respectively to raise money for charitable causes.

At the end of the event, our Belgium colleagues achieved a respectable team ranking of 55 out of 302 participating companies. More importantly, everyone had a meaningful good time!

Xtra Family Day 2019
On 18 May 2019, members of ‘Xtra’ welcomed 2,500 employees and their families to Bellewaerde (a large family park in Ypres, West Flanders) for a relaxing weekend outing. Xtra is a staff volunteer association which organises events and activities for PSAA, MPET, ATS, PSA Breakbulk and PSA Zeebrugge.

Sunshine on the first day provided ample opportunity for participants to enjoy the facilities, amusement park rides and the zoo. Spirits continued to be high despite intermittent showers throughout the second day. Shelter and food were prepared – including Flemish stew, chicken waterzooi, rice pudding, doughnuts and drinks – to keep proceedings warm and cheerful.

In the end, the event successfully enhanced PSA staff engagement and camaraderie as participants young and old had a fun-filled weekend.
