MIP – Giving a “Forest of Hope”

Mersin International Port (MIP) welcomed the new year differently, by gifting its stakeholders a tree sapling each in lieu of physical gifts. Each stakeholder received a personalised e-certificate representing one tree sapling that had been donated by MIP on their behalf. The saplings will be planted in the Gaziantep and Ankara areas of Turkey, as part of the “Forest of Hope” Project.
The “Forest of Hope” is an afforestation movement spearheaded by the TEMA Foundation (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats), which aims to contribute to the conservation of biological diversity in the region, and help to combat climate change.
MIP has committed to sponsoring the planting of 3000 trees each in Gaziantep and Ankara, creating two “Forests of Hope” by March 2021. The project exemplifies MIP’s active participation in growing sustainability awareness and our efforts to do our part as businesses and individuals for the environment.
