For Phinehas Tan from PSA Singapore Terminal 1 Projects, photography has from an early age been a part of his life in one form or another. With the advent of digital cameras, documenting the evolution and myriad changes within his own family has brought him many moments of joy. In his own words, “something is always going on!”, and what better way to capture these moments, than through picture. As part of the team in charge of relocation activities between Singapore Terminals 1 and 2 during the wind-down phases of Tanjong Pagar Port, he was in a unique position to snap this picture. For him, there has always been a particular beauty to the symmetry of containers and the mechanical lines of the surrounding equipment. Against the backdrop of an ever-changing city, these mechanical giants are captured here standing in stillness and dignity, like soldiers awaiting their next deployment.
