PSA Breakbulk Celebrates Two Decades of Collaboration with Non-Profit Organisation Stroom Maatwerk

PSA Breakbulk recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its collaboration with the non-profit organisation Stroom Maatwerk vzw (Stroom Maatwerk), at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges on 31 October.

The event was attended by Antwerp’s Deputy Mayor and Antwerp Alderman for SMEs, Koen Kennis, as well as representatives from PSA Breakbulk, PSA Belgium, Stroom Maatwerk vzw and the Alfaport Voka Chamber of Commerce – a Flemish network of companies.

The collaboration between PSA Breakbulk and Stroom Maatwerk began two decades ago when Stroom Maatwerk’s employees took on roles as maintenance workers on the Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ docks. The collaborative endeavour is characterised by the distinct composition of the Stroom Maatwerk team, which consists of individuals that face challenges in securing positions within the conventional labour market, thereby necessitating additional guidance and support.

Over the years, the responsibilities of the Stroom Maatwerk team has evolved. Today, their employees ensure that the wood dunnage, used to separate export-cargo on ships, conforms with the ISPM-15 international wood packaging standards.

PSA Breakbulk General Manager Dennis Verbeeck expresses pride in the enduring collaboration: “With this event, we wanted to thank the Stroom Maatwerk team for its continuous dedication. Its work is very important to our company, and we hope to add many more years to this strong and fruitful relationship.”
