PSA Health@Home’s First Online Volunteering Event

Eager to keep the flame of volunteerism burning bright despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the PSA Health@Home team organised their first online volunteering event on 11 September. The virtual event was held with one of PSA Health@Home’s partners, St Luke’s ElderCare, at their Telok Blangah Centre in Singapore.
Despite being unable to visit in person, our eager volunteers were able to make their presence felt by playing games with the elderly at St Luke’s ElderCare through Microsoft Teams. Games included getting participants to guess the prices of grocery items shown on the screens and helping to invoke a sense of nostalgia by getting them to guess the names of places in Singapore from vintage photos. Prizes were awarded for both winners and participants!
Even with social distancing firmly in place, volunteers happily achieved their goal of making the day of their elderly beneficiaries brighter. Heartened by the success of their first virtual volunteering activity, the PSA Health@Home team hopes to host more of such activities in the future, eventually expanding the initiative to include all partners in their program.
