PSA India Donates to Akshaya Patra Foundation to Fight Hunger Among Students

All four terminals under PSA India made a collective donation of Rs 14 Lakh (close to US$19,500) to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, during a visit to the Foundation’s headquarters in Bengaluru, India on 19 December 2019. The generous gesture by PSA Mumbai, PSA Chennai, PSA Kolkata and PSA Sical in Tuticorin will go towards feeding some 1.8 million children through a school food program dubbed the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.

The donation from PSA India builds on earlier Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts undertaken by each PSA India terminal in its local community. This year, in other CSR efforts, PSA Chennai and PSA Sical made donations to local orphanages in Chennai, Kolkata and Tuticorin, while staff from PSA Mumbai and PSA Kolkata planted trees and shrubs to combat deforestation. As a community service, PSA Mumbai organised a career counselling session for school leavers, and employees from PSA Sical and PSA Mumbai also participated enthusiastically in blood donation drives.
