PSA Korea Donates $13 Million Korean Won to the Korean Association for Children with Leukemia and Cancer

Incheon Container Terminal (ICT), Pusan Newport International Terminal (PNIT) and HMM PSA Newport Terminal (HPNT) have jointly donated $13 million Korean won to the Korean Association for Children with Leukaemia and Cancer (KACLC), which will be used to help children undergoing leukaemia and cancer treatment.
The donation has been a tradition since 2017, with this year’s donation consisting of $3 million Korean won from ICT, $5 million Korean won from PNIT and $5 million Korean won from HPNT.
To further show their love and support with a personal touch, our colleagues from PSA Korea also participated in a “ColouredCardGame” activity. Together with their families, our colleagues hand-coloured 58 sets of unfinished cards and included a handwritten message of support in each set. During the activity, they also learnt more about childhood cancer facts. For example, childhood cancer is not contagious nor hereditary, and that there is an approximately 80% cure rate.

These 58 sets of cards were sent to children who are currently hospitalised and spend most of their time undergoing treatment. Each set consists of 24 pairs of cards and can be used to play therapy games. To play, the children begin by setting all the cards face down, progressively turning them over one by one to memorise the cards and their positions, with the end goal being to find all the pairs.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, face-to-face donation ceremonies were not held. In place, employees sent photos instead to express their well wishes for the children.
