PSA Mumbai Celebrates 2M TEU Milestone as PSA India Terminals Set Monthly Throughput Records

PSA Mumbai handled its two millionth TEU (mTEU) in January since the start of its operations, achieving this notable milestone in less than three years.

This follows a strong finish to 2020 by PSA India terminals, with record volumes handled in December 2020 for PSA India as a whole. PSA Mumbai and PSA Chennai also recorded monthly throughput highs in December 2020.

Aside from these operational highlights, PSA Mumbai also added a new service recently as it welcomed the vessel M.V. Wan Hai 507 on 3 January 2021. The M.V. Wan Hai 507 is part of the joint Wan Hai Lines / Interasia Lines CI2 / ICI service, the terminal’s latest addition to its services – its 7th weekly service call and its 5th direct Far East service.

Managing Director of PSA India Mike Formoso said, “All PSA India terminals operated uninterrupted throughout 2020, handling every scheduled vessel call and many more unscheduled ones, thanks to the unstinting efforts of our staff, contractors and stakeholders working steadfastly and safely alongside each other. We are also grateful for the great support from our customers and users of all our terminals. With this new service call from Wan Hai and Interasia Lines, 2021 is off to a strong start and we will also see new products and developments for PSA India soon, including enhancements to the ODeX digital online payment solution launched earlier in September 2020.”
