PSA Panama Welcomes First 15,000-TEU Vessel to Call at Panama’s Pacific Side

In a new operational milestone, PSA Panama welcomed the 15,000 TEU MSC Virgo on 26 July, the largest ship to call at a terminal on Panama’s Pacific side.
For the first time, PSA Panama also had two mega container vessels berthed alongside simultaneously, handling 2,297 TEUs on the MSC Virgo and 2,927 TEUs on the MSC Elisa.
The 13,092 TEU MSC Elisa was docked next to the MSC Virgo, with both vessels each measuring 366 metres in length overall, but the MSC Virgo being slightly wider at 51 metres compared to the MSC Elisa’s width of 48 metres.
General Manager of PSA Panama Alessandro Cassinelli said that this milestone is testament of the years of hard work put in by the staff at PSA Panama, who work day and night with passion and commitment to keep supply chains and the country’s logistics moving. “We appreciate the continued trust that our customers have placed in us,” he added.
