The Irish American Business Chamber (IABCN) held dual events in Philadelphia, USA and Cork, Ireland simultaneously in March 2022, to honour the recipients of the 2022 Ambassador Award. PSA Penn Terminals, Port of Cork and Independent Container Line were jointly honoured by the IABCN with the 2022 Ambassador Award, for their role in strengthening the business ties between the USA and Ireland. The three entities collaborated to develop and maintain a new direct container shipping route between Cork and Pennsylvania.

The shipping route was launched by Independent Container Line in June 2020. This is the only direct route from Ireland connecting to the US, serving Pennsylvania and North Carolina. It gives Irish exporters unprecedented opportunities to develop business in the USA. The Port of Cork and PSA Penn Terminals worked alongside Independent Container Line to create and maintain this successful transatlantic service.
