PSA Singapore and JTC Celebrate Record Throughput at Jurong Island Terminal

In collaboration with JTC Corporation and industry partners, PSA Singapore has achieved a new milestone at PSA Singapore’s Jurong Island Terminal (JIT), handling more than 212,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025. This represents a strong year-on-year growth of 21%, reflecting rising demand for efficient and sustainable logistics solutions serving Singapore’s Energy and Chemicals sector.

PSA Southeast Asia’s Head of Port Ecosystem Business Seow Hwee said, “This record-breaking throughput reflects the strong partnerships we have built with JTC, our customers and industry partners across the port and supply chain ecosystem. JIT plays a critical role in improving supply chain efficiency and sustainability by providing reliable barge connectivity, safer handling of specialised cargo, and smoother cargo flows for the Energy and Chemicals sector. Through ongoing collaboration and continued investment, we are strengthening the resilience of this critical sector while supporting our customers’ long-term growth and decarbonisation goals.”

JTC’s Group Director (Green Growth) Cindy Koh said, “This milestone represents a meaningful step towards our vision in advancing Jurong Island to support a greener and more resilient logistics network, reducing reliance on land transport and lowering carbon emissions. This barging model highlights the importance of ecosystem collaboration in meeting growing demand for sustainable logistics and reinforces our shared commitment to long-term growth and sustainability in Singapore’s industrial landscape.”

The milestone underscores JIT’s growing role as a strategic logistics hub, strengthening barge connectivity between Jurong island and PSA’s mainland terminals at Tuas, Pasir Panjang and Brani. By facilitating seamless multimodal flows, JIT enhances supply chain reliability while supporting the specialised operational requirements of energy and chemical cargoes.

Greater adoption of barging has contributed to lower carbon emissions by reducing reliance on road haulage and easing landside congestion. Operational safety and efficiency have also been enhanced through JIT’s new facilities for the handling and transloading of Dangerous Goods, reinforcing PSA’s commitment to safe and responsible port operations.
