Safety Week 2018 – Promote Safety Always: Everybody Makes a Difference!

“Everybody makes a difference” was the rallying call at PSA’s annual Safety Week. Held from 12 to 18 January 2018, PSA business units (BUs) from all around the world organized a diverse range of activities for staff, contractors and other stakeholders to participate in. The types of activities varied from one location to another, but the global PSA family united under the common call for everyone to “Make a Difference” for safety.

PSA is ramping up our capabilities to harness the use of technology and data analytics to improve safety. Whereas technology and smarter machines can help improve and prevent injuries, the individual is ultimately the last frontier in accident prevention. Only by staying vigilant, “Taking 5”, and following all safety instructions, can an individual extricate himself or herself from a dangerous situation. The actions of every one of us can make a critical difference to both our own safety AND the safety of those around us. After all, we owe it not only to ourselves but also to our loved ones to return home from work safely every day!

The safety week activities featured messages from the respective RCEOs and Business Unit leaders emphasising the importance of working safely, as well as health exercises, on-site safety training, exhibitions, games and quizzes, social activities, competitions, demos, drills, emergency exercises and discussions. The rich variety of activities around the world served to underpin the central message – Promote Safety Always: Everybody Makes a Difference!
