The Bo-men Stride Alongside Singapore

On 1 November 2022, three Bo-men sculptures were unveiled at the upcoming Shenton Way station by Singapore’s Minister of Transport Mr S Iswaran, at the launch of Singapore’s Land Transport Authority’s new Gift of Art program. The Bo-men reflect the purposeful energy of workers commuting to and from Singapore’s Central Business District, not far from PSA’s first container terminal at Tanjong Pagar.

Commissioned from Belgian artist Daisy Boman, PSA donated a total of six Bo-men sculptures to the Gift of Art program. The Gift of Art program aims to add more vibrancy and create more enjoyable commuting experiences through the joy of art pieces placed in and around the country’s MRT stations.

Other than at Shenton Way, three more Bo-men can be found at Pasir Panjang station, which is close to PSA International’s corporate headquarters, PSA Horizons. The “box” heads of these sculptures are also a nod to the humble container, central to our business, which has been credited with globalisation and the phenomenal growth of world trade.

Global Head of HR Caroline Lim joined the artist at the unveiling event together with Head of Group Corporate Affairs & Group Learning Chris Chan and Head of Group Legal Terence Tan. Members of the Belgium Embassy in Singapore, which included Deputy Head of Mission & Consul Christophe Lechat and Trade Commissioner Flanders Investment & Trade Nathalie Surmont, also lent their support.

Striding forward with passion and purpose towards a common goal, the Bo-men celebrate human potential, resilience and the spirit of collaboration, echoing themes central to PSA’s brand manifesto of being Alongside.
