Tianjin Port Container Terminal Sets New Gross Berth Productivity Record on the Madison Maersk

In Tianjin, China, a snowstorm had just passed, and the temperature hit a low of -10 degrees Celsius, but the Tianjin Port Container Terminal (TPCT) team was fired up with determination. The Madison Maersk vessel was alongside, and the team was setting its sights on a new gross berth productivity (GBP) record.

On 15 February, TPCT moved 6,435 boxes on the Madison Maersk in a record 13.75 hours. Nearly half of the trucking was done by environmentally-friendly electric prime movers, which reduced the total carbon emissions during the operations. The Madison Maersk has a length overall of 399.2m and a design capacity of 18,270 TEUs.

With these efforts, the TPCT team set a new gross berth productivity record for the PSA Group – achieving 468 boxes per hour on the Madison Maersk vessel. This is also a new PSA record for the 2M-NEU2 service, as well as a new GBP record for Tianjin Port.
