Loconi Intermodal Breaks Ground on Zbąszynek Terminal, Expanding its Network in Central and Eastern Europe

Loconi Intermodal, one of the leading intermodal operators in Poland and a member of the PSA Group, continues to strengthen its footprint with a new intermodal terminal, strategically located in Zbąszynek. The 9.4-hectare facility is developed adjacent to the E20 railway line, which is part of the Trans-European Transport Network, commonly referred to as ‘TEN-T’, near the A2 motorway and S3 express road.
The new terminal is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2028. It will be equipped with four handling tracks, enabling the simultaneous handling of two full-length trains, a storage yard with a capacity of 4,500 TEUs, and low-emission equipment, including two electric rubber tyre gantry cranes.
“The investment in Zbąszynek reflects both the sustained growth in maritime cargo flows through Polish ports and the increasing importance of efficient hinterland connections,” said Loconi Intermodal CEO Niels Jakobsgaard Andersen. “This new intermodal terminal will strengthen our ability to manage rising volumes, enhance cross-border connectivity as part of PSA Group’s Node to Network strategy, and support our customers in transitioning to more sustainable and reliable supply chain solutions.”
