PSA Italy Launches Stuttgart Express Rail Service

PSA Italy recently announced the launch of the Stuttgart Express, a rail service which will connect PSA Genova Pra’ with Stuttgart in Southern Germany. Embarking on its maiden trip on 4 May, the service will provide a fast, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative for transporting containers to and from the region by road.

The Stuttgart Express will run twice weekly, departing at 0500 hours on Monday and Thursday from Genova Pra’ terminal, and at 1900 hours on Tuesdays and Fridays from Kornwestheim in Stuttgart.

This is the second international round trip container rail service that PSA Italy operates directly from its Genova Pra’ terminal. Back in 2018, it had launched the tri-weekly ‘Southern Express’ service that links the Genova port with Basel in Switzerland.

PSA Italy CEO Roberto Ferrari said: “Shifting the transport of containers between ports and the European hinterland from road to rail is absolutely necessary in the fight against climate change. The new Stuttgart Express will make this possible for many organisations in a cost-effective and efficient manner.”
